
Dr. Sinan Sousan is a public health engineer and aerosol scientist who earned his PhD in Chemical Engineering and Atmospheric Sciences, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship in Public Health with a focus on exposure science, at the University of Iowa. His research also includes physical hazards exposure assessment, and he holds intellectual property related to a proprietary heat-stress risk-assessment algorithm, which earned him the ECU 2025 Research & Scholarship Award for Invention Recognition. Dr. Sousan has been a member of the American Association for Aerosol Research since 2009. He is currently an associate professor of public health at ECU and the North Carolina Agromedicine Institute.
